Lived down New George Street. Family story that in a yard there was a pub called The Barrel and it wasn't known whether Uncle Dick lived in the yeard or the pub!!
His wife died and he died also while their children were still young. The children had to go into orphans home but one of them called Henry, after he left the home used to visit my Grandparents William and Eliza Jubb and my Uncle Bill remembers him.

Charles Pye was a Private in the 64th Regiment garrisoned in Gibraltar in 1819 when his daughter Mary was born.
He enlisted on 7th December 1813. He was at the regimental depot at Hythe from beginning of 1814 until June when he served as one of a recruiting party first at Church Stretton until October, then at Oswestry until the end of 1815. 19th January 1816 he joined the main body of the regiment at Plymouth Dock, where he remained until 25th October 1817 from which date he is shown as on leave until 31st December 1817. The regiment enbarked from Plymouth for Gibraltar on 16th February 1818 landing on 14th April. On 19th May 1819 his daughter Mary was baptised in the Kings Chapel, Gibraltar. He was one of 14 privates and 1 corpora; who embarked for England on 6th January 1821 and were discharged at Chatham on 2nd March 1821.
Charles and Ann were in Leeds in 1838 because Mary married John Stringer there in December of that year.
[NI092] In 1851 census of Hull and the Trade Directory of the same year Thomas is listed as Licensed Victualler at Rein Deer, in Cleveland Street, Hull. By the 1861 census the family have moved to Popples Row and Thomas's occupation is shown as Boiler Maker (Ships).
